McMillan competition group wins at inaugural Global Competition Review Awards

Rankings and recognition

McMillan is pleased to announce that the firm's Competition Group won the inaugural Global Competition Review award for Matter of the Year for its work relating to Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystems.  Partner Mark Opashinov and associate Sorcha O'Carroll acted in connection with the Canadian Competition Act review of the acquisition.

The team was also nominated for Matter of the Year for its work on behalf of Live Nation in the Live Nation/Ticketmaster merger.  Partner Mark Opashinov and associate Sorcha O'Carroll also acted on this transaction.

The Group received a third nomination, in the M&A Transaction of the Year – Europe category, for its work on behalf of Novartis in connection with Novartis's acquisition of control of Alcon, Inc.  The Novartis team was led by Neil Campbell and Mark Opashinov and was assisted by associates Sorcha O'Carroll and Casey Halladay, among others.

Finally, we are also pleased to announce that Martin Low was nominated for the prestigious "Cartels Lawyer – Special Recognition Award".  Martin was the only Canadian nominated for this award.
