Kip Daechsel Joins McMillan LLP

TORONTO – March 24, 2014 – McMillan LLP announced today that Kip Daechsel, formerly Heenan Blaikie’s National Co-Managing Partner and Toronto Office Managing Partner, has joined the firm.

Best known for his work in mergers and acquisitions and in financial services regulatory matters, Mr. Daechsel’s practice also includes conflict resolution, shareholder disputes, commercial agreements, structured finance and creditor remedies. His fluency in English, French, Italian and Spanish serves him well in his role as strategic advisor to international clients.

Mr. Daechsel was called to the bar in Ontario and in Quebec in 1984. Throughout his career he has been actively involved in services to the profession and the community.

Mr. Daechsel is the eighth lawyer to join McMillan from the former Heenan Blaikie firm over the past several weeks. The Advocacy and Litigation Group now includes construction litigation lawyer Geza Banfai and commercial litigators Caireen Hanert  and Laura Brazil. The Capital Markets team welcomed Kosta Kostic and Eugene Chen who work with clients on their corporate finance, securities and M&A needs. Dawn Mains specializes in the management and commercialization of intellectual property assets while  Allison Wong, the fourth of the new lawyers to join the Calgary office, will continue her practice in business law.
