Douglas is an associate in the Commercial Real Estate group of McMillan's Vancouver office. He assists clients with real estate transactions involving all aspects of acquisition, financing, subdivision, development, leasing and sale of commercial and residential properties. Douglas’ practice also focuses on general corporate and commercial transactions.
Douglas is also a member of the firm’s business immigration practice, and advises clients on a wide range of business immigration matters, including labour market impact assessments, temporary residence applications, intra-company transfers and business visitor, professional work permit applications, provincial nominees applications, and permanent residence applications.
Douglas joined the firm in 2016 as a senior commercial real estate paralegal, and in 2017 he began his accreditation process through the National Committee on Accreditation of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada to practice law in B.C. Douglas attended the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia and completed NCA required coursework through the graduate-level program for foreign lawyers. Douglas obtained his Certificate of Qualifications from the National Committee on Accreditation in 2019 and completed his articles with the firm in 2020. Prior to joining the firm, Douglas worked with a Vancouver immigration law firm as an immigration consultant, as well as with a major Vancouver law firm as a real estate paralegal and immigration consultant, and with a New Westminster law firm as a real estate/corporate paralegal.
Douglas received his legal degree in Law and Political Science from Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University, Lima, Peru in 2001 and after receiving a post graduate degree in Real Property Registry Law became a lawyer in 2006. Douglas was called to the Lima bar in 2007 and worked as a lawyer in Lima until 2010.
