Evelyn is a Law Clerk in McMillan’s Technology Intellectual Property & Privacy Group. She specializes in trademark and assists lawyers in various stages of trademark prosecution. Her responsibilities include conducting preliminary trademark searches, drafting trademark availability opinion, filing of trademark applications, monitoring and attending to allowance and registration deadlines, renewal and maintenance of domestic and foreign trademark registrations, reviewing third party surveillance report for possible oppositions, and conducting intellectual property due diligence searches. She also assists lawyers in filing copyright applications in Canada and the United States.  Evelyn communicates directly with clients and foreign agents and also acts as a liaison between the firm and the various offices within the Canadian Intellectual Property Office.

Evelyn began her career as a trademark paralegal in the Philippines working for a satellite office of a leading International law firm. Prior to moving to Canada in 2004, Evelyn worked as a member of the management team for a consultancy and research firm specializing in brand protection and intellectual property enforcement.
