Margaret McNee and Sarah Pepall are recipients of the 2013 Lexpert® Zenith Awards: Celebrating Women Leaders in the Legal Profession at a gala ceremony held in Toronto on September 24, 2013.

This prestigious award honours women lawyers who have led their clients, firms, companies, departments, faculties, profession, colleagues and/or communities; and have been a role model for other women in the profession.

Margaret McNee is a senior partner in the Toronto office of McMillan where she practices corporate and securities law in the firm's Capital Markets Group with a special emphasis on investment funds and asset management. During her 30 year career at McMillan, she has demonstrated leadership as a respected practitioner in a traditionally male dominated practice area , has held senior firm leadership positions, has contributed to the profession as a member of advisory committees and has been a leader in arts organizations.

Sarah Pepall was appointed a Justice of the Ontario Court of Appeal in April 2012. She was a former Justice of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice from 1999 to 2012 where she presided over matters dealing with all substantive subject areas of the Superior Court including civil, commercial, criminal and family law disputes as well as Divisional Court matters.

Before her appointment to the Superior Court, Sarah was a partner at McMillan where she practiced civil and commercial litigation. She exercised leadership roles that had a lasting, beneficial impact upon the firm. Sarah's leadership at McMillan culminated with her election as Managing Partner in 1995, making her one of the first women to lead a large commercial law firm.
