McMillan LLP’s Business Law Partner Brett Stewart is proud to help launch a first-of-its-kind mentorship program as part of her role as Co-Chair of Canadian Women in Private Equity (CWPE). According to CVCA, the mentorship program is designed to increase the number of women in the private equity industry and in particular, those in senior leadership positions.

The new mentorship program falls under the umbrella of the CWPE’s gender diversity goals. “We believe mentorship is an effective way for women to learn and benefit from the experience of others, particularly at critical inflection points in their careers,” Brett told the CVCA, “The program is intended to foster meaningful networks for the participants.”

The mentorship program has participants across Canada. CWPE pairs people in the same city where possible and in some cases, due to geography, participants have agreed to meet via virtual meetings.

CWPE was established to provide a platform for women in the private equity industry to network, share information and compare notes on leading practices. Its membership consists of institutional investors, fund, managers, and professional service providers such as lawyers and bankers.
