Scientific Games closes previously announced acquisition of DEQ Systems

On January 18, 2017, SG Canada Acquisitions, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scientific Games Corporation, acquired all of the outstanding common shares of TSXV-listed DEQ Systems Corp. for a cash payment of CDN$27 million.  The acquisition, which was announced in August 2016, was completed by way of a plan of arrangement and approved by shareholders of DEQ, and an order of the Superior Court of Québec (Commercial Division). 

DEQ provides proprietary table games and progressive systems to casinos in over 30 countries. Scientific Games develops technology-based products and services and associated content for worldwide gaming, lottery and interactive markets.

Scientific Games was represented on the transaction by a team led by Howard Drabinsky (business law/M&A) and Paul Collins (capital markets/M&A) that includes Carl Irvine (tax), Dan Edmondstone (competition), Shari Munk-Manel (labour and employment) and Karen Slater.
