Competition Bureau Clears SABMiller/AB InBev Global Beer Merger

On May 31, 2016 the Canadian Competition Bureau completed its merger review and cleared SABMiller’s US $107 billion transaction with AB InBev as well as Molson Coors’s subsequent acquisition from AB InBev of the rights to various Miller brands, including Miller Genuine Draft and Miller Lite.

In November 2015, AB InBev announced its plans to acquire SABMiller. SABMiller retained McMillan LLP as Canadian counsel. The McMillan team was led by Neil Campbell and Mark Opashinov and included Jun Chao Meng, Joshua Chad, Calie Adamson, Paul Boshyk, Samantha Gordon, Mitch Koczerginski and Christopher Purdon.
