On August 3, 2016, Legrand North America LLC. (Legrand), which provides products and systems for electrical installations and information networks solutions, announced it had acquired Solarfective Products Limited (Solarfective). Solarfective produces standard and custom shading systems for commercial applications.

The acquisition is part of Legrand’s plan to grow its building control systems business in North America. The integration of Solafective’s shading systems with Legrand’s active lighting control will enable Legrand to coordinate these various lighting systems thereby providing its customers with energy efficient and cost-effective advanced shading and lighting control solutions needed for high-performance commercial buildings.

Legrand was represented in Canada by McMillan who assisted on the transaction in the acquisition of all of the issued and outstanding shares of Solarfective. The McMillan team was led by Howard Drabinsky (business law) and included Annik Forristal (environmental), Rob Shore (real estate), George Waggott and Paul Boshyk (employment), Dan Edmondstone (competition), Carl Irvine (tax) and Money Khoromi (capital markets). Further support was provided by Catherine Norris, Judi King and Megan Singleton.
