Tenaris Canada (“Tenaris”) was engaged in an expiry review of anti-dumping duties before the Canada Border Services Agency (“CBSA”) and the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (“CITT”).

The expiry review was aimed at determining whether anti-dumping duties on line pipe exported from South Korea to Canada should continue for an additional five years, following the CITT’s initial finding in 2018.

Our client, the Techint Group, including Tenaris Canada a majority-owned subsidiary company, is the largest global manufacturer and supplier of seamless steel pipes. The company primarily serves the energy industry with 23,000 employees around the world and revenue of US$27B.

The McMillan team, led by Peter Jarosz and included William Pellerin, Tayler Farrell and Philip Kariam, was successful in convincing the CBSA and CITT that the CITT should renew its finding. The result of which, allows for the continuation of heavy tariffs to be imposed on Tenaris’ foreign competitors and Tenaris will be able to benefit from fair competition and higher prices, directly impacting their bottom line.
