McMillan acted as Canadian counsel for and advised Plentyoffish Media Inc. (“POF”) and its founder Markus Frind in POF’s acquisition by The Match.com Group for US$575 million in cash. The transaction is subject to the Minister of Industry’s approval pursuant to the Investment Canada Act.

Plentyoffish, the largest free online dating site in the world, was represented by a team involving Tom Theodorakis, Ryan Black, Sandra Knowler, Cory Kent, Sasa Pudar, Marina Tran, Alice Lin, Scott Kuehn, Rebecca Rock and Maneesha Dakha (on M&A and related transaction matters), Peter Botz, Grant Wong, Doug Pedlow, Christine Man and Allie Ketcham (on tax and corporate matters), Don Mainland (intellectual property), Lyndsay Wasser (privacy matters) and François Tougas and Ryan Gallagher (Competition Act and Investment Canada Act matters).
