Jonathan regularly appears before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and Canada Border Services Agency on anti-dumping / subsidy and government procurement proceedings, and the Copyright Board of Canada in royalty rate setting through tariffs. He constantly advises clients on tariffs, customs, import / export controls and economic sanctions. His extensive body of regulatory work includes challenging government actions and decisions through judicial review.

Extensive experience litigating and advising on international trade law matters and disputes. Fluently bilingual, William also regularly advises clients on economic sanctions and customs compliance matters. William is one of a very few lawyers in Canada to have argued before the WTO Appellate Body and dispute settlement panels. As former Deputy Director, Trade Remedies and North America Trade with Global Affairs Canada, he oversaw international trade disputes and appeals. He also represented Canada in its challenge to the United States’ imposition of duties on Canadian softwood lumber products.
