In Memory of Geoffrey (Geoff) C. Kubrick

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the loss (not COVID-19 related) of our dear colleague, mentor and friend, Geoff Kubrick.

Known as one of Canada’s most prominent and respected trade lawyers, Geoff joined the firm in 2006. Over his distinguished career, he represented clients in more than 100 trade-related cases, including numerous proceedings before the Federal Court of Canada, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Recognition of Geoff’s professional expertise, including most recently in Chambers Global (2020), Chambers Canada (2020) and the Legal500 Canada 2020, testifies to his stellar reputation across the legal industry and his contributions to the development of Canadian trade law.

Geoff mentored many lawyers and was deeply committed to seeing them succeed. All who had the privilege to work with Geoff will miss his wit, contagious sense of humour and humility. His passing is a great loss to McMillan LLP and to the trade law bar.

On behalf of all of us at McMillan LLP, we extend our deepest sympathies to his family, particularly his wife Kelly, his children Nathalie Batten, Alexandre Kubrick, Samuel Kubrick, and grand-children, JJ and Annabelle Batten.

He will be dearly missed.
