Indigenous Law Team Joins McMillan LLP

McMillan LLP is strengthening its Indigenous Law practice by welcoming a new team to our Vancouver and Ottawa offices. Sharon Singh, the new co-head of our Indigenous practice, will be joined by incoming Partner Laurie Wright and Associate Claire Lingley.

Sharon brings extensive experience advising the private sector on today’s complex regulatory environment, Indigenous reconciliation, and environmental regulations. She works with clients on developing agreements with Indigenous peoples, relationship building, and navigating challenging environmental assessments. Sharon has previously worked as a government relations adviser outside of her legal practice, giving her a full perspective over the lawmaking process. She is also an accomplished author and speaker, having frequently contributed to many trade publications and regularly speaking at industry-related events.

Laurie brings decades of legal and government experience to our firm, having served for over 30 years with the Government of Canada. She worked as a senior leader with the Department of Justice while with the federal government, where she oversaw the drafting of new federal laws and regulations. Her experience in government and expertise in constitutional law allow her to provide clients with the responsive advice they need to stay ahead of today’s regulatory environment. Like Sharon, she specializes in advising clients on managing Indigenous relations and corporate approaches to reconciliation, along with ESG and sustainability.
