International capital markets lawyer Rajeev Dewan joins McMillan’s Toronto office

We are pleased to announce that Rajeev (Raj) Dewan will be joining the firm’s Capital Markets and M&A Group and the China Practice Group, effective July 11 2016.

Raj joins as partner and will be based in Toronto and as required will be working out of our Hong Kong office.

Raj has more than 17 years of Canadian and international corporate and securities law experience, with a practice focused on advising public and private companies in high growth sectors, mid-market investment banks, venture capital funds and family offices. Raj has also worked on a number of transactions in and from Canada with emerging markets, with a particular emphasis on the Middle East and India, specifically in relation to structuring, sourcing and implementing cross-border acquisitions, inbound/outbound investments and international joint ventures.

“Raj has in-depth knowledge of the global markets that is integral to helping companies, wishing to expand their business operations overseas, succeed. His expertise will be valuable to broadening the scope of our capital markets practice, and will also allow us to continue to grow our China practice,” says Paul Davis, National Coordinator, Capital Markets and M&A Group.

Raj is a member of the Ontario Securities Commission Small and Medium Enterprises Committee (SMEC) and is a Charter member and a director of the Toronto chapter of TIE Global, an international network of 15,000 entrepreneurs with 61 chapters across 15 countries. Raj was called to the Ontario Bar in 1999. In 2011, he attended the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, where he attained a Certificate in Islamic Finance. Raj is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School.
