McMillan and Two of its Patent Experts Recognized in the 2023 IAM Patent 1000 Guide
The 2023 IAM Patent 1000 Guide: The World’s Leading Patent Professionals once again recognized the remarkable competencies of McMillan’s patent practice. Notably, Toronto Partner Keith Bird was acknowledged for patent litigation and Vancouver Partner Pablo Tseng was recognized for patent prosecution. This recognition is a testament to the firm’s strength in the resolution of complex disputes and navigating complex regulatory regimes, and further exemplifies McMillan’s commitment to maintaining leading-edge industry knowledge in support of our clients’ needs to stay ahead in their markets.
McMillan has a sturdy IP practice comprising over 20 enthusiastic and committed lawyers, trademark agents and patent agents. It runs the gamut of intellectual property, managing approximately 4,000 patents and designs, as well as over 10,000 trademark registrations. On the contentious side the team has handled a number of significant cases, including a landmark patent infringement action for SALT Canada in 2020, which overturned three decades of established Canadian patent law. Keith Bird, the founder of the patent group, took the lead on the dispute. His laser-like focus on commercial solutions is underpinned by his vast knowledge of the law, and he brings “excellent communication and flexibility” to everything he does. Working alongside him is Pablo Tseng, a solid partner who “has demonstrated incredible professionalism and integrity. Pablo is in a league of his own, understands his clients’ challenges and always finds a way to solve them, all while effortlessly balancing legal concerns with their business needs.”, (Law Business Research, “IAM Research” (2023), online: https://www.iam-media.com/rankings/patent-1000/profile/firm/mcmillan-llp#iam-research).
Published annually, IAM Patent 1000: Guide to the World’s Leading Patent Professionals focuses exclusively on the patent practice and identifies the top legal patent professionals and firms across the globe. Individual and firm rankings are based on an extensive global research process involving interviews with private practice lawyers and in-house counsel.
