Once Again, McMillan Named One of Canada’s 5-Star Pro Bono Firms
Once again, McMillan has been recognized by Canadian Lawyer Magazine as one of the 5-Star Pro Bono Firms of 2024. The firm is grateful for the acknowledgement of our continuing efforts serving the communities in which we live and work.
Canadian Lawyer’s 5-Star Pro Bono Firm award recognizes those law firms which have made efforts not just to do pro bono work, but which also demonstrate pro bono infrastructure at an institutional level.
“As a firm, being named a 5-star pro bono firm is gratifying. We are always pursuing opportunities to do more pro bono work and build on our already extensive pro bono commitments,” said Jeffrey Levine, pro bono partner for McMillan’s Toronto office. “This award also signals to students and lawyers considering opportunities at McMillan that their desire to give back to their communities, while gaining experience in a range of fulfilling work, will be supported here.”
Annually, our lawyers provide approximately 1,750 hours of pro bono work to individuals through organizations such as Pro Bono Law Ontario, Calgary Small Claims Duty and Access to Justice Vancouver, as well as approximately $1 million worth of pro bono legal counsel to over twenty other organizations. McMillan is also proud of its affiliation with the National Self-Represented Litigants Project, which is committed to better understanding the challenges and hard choices facing the large number of Canadians who now come to court without counsel.
