Guneev Bhinder has a broad commercial litigation practice with a focus on complex disputes in banking and finance, securities litigation, arbitration and corporate governance and insolvency matters.

Guneev has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court, the Divisional Court and the Federal Court of Appeal. She regularly represents clients before the Commercial List Court in Toronto.

Guneev is a member of the Diverse Leaders Academy, American Bar Association (ABA). She has acted as a guest lecturer for the Securities Litigation course at Queen’s University, Faculty of Law. She also volunteers for Pro Bono Law Ontario.



Representative Matters

  • Represented a bank in proceedings to appoint an investigative receiver
    and for relief under the Limited Partnerships Act: Citibank N.A. v. Aralpa
    Holdings LP et. al., CV-23-00702978-00CL
  • Represented a company on an application to fix fair value of dissenting
    shares.
  • Counsel to a salmon sales company in conspiracy class action proceedings.
  • Represented a computer component manufacturer in successfully
    defeating certification: Jensen v. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., 2023 FCA
    89.
  • Represented a company seeking recognition and enforcement of a foreign
    arbitral award.
  • Represented a Cannabis company in a proposed class action for alleged
    secondary market securities misrepresentations: Kwong v. iAnthus et. al.,
    2022 ONSC 1400.
  • Represented a ground lease tenant in a complex rental reset arbitration.
  • Represented a secured creditor, shareholder, DIP lender and stalking horse
    bidder in a contested CCAA proceeding: Re Green Growth Brands Inc.,
    2020 ONSC 3565.
  • Represented a retirement home to successfully defeat an injunction to
    enforce a restrictive covenant to preclude the home from operating:
    Weston Gardens Retirement Inc. v 2540250 Ontario Ltd., 2019 ONSC 2663.
