Richard Mahoney is an accomplished practitioner with a focus on government and public policy. Acting for clients in the transportation, energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, financial services, and technology sectors, he helps solve business challenges relating to issues management, regulatory affairs and governance.

Richard brings exceptional experience in Canada’s governing process, including as a senior advisor to The Right Honourable Paul Martin throughout his public life. A former president of the Ontario Liberal Party, Richard also played leadership roles in several political provincial campaigns.

Earlier in his career, Richard spent many years as a partner at another Canadian law firm, serving as chair of its public policy practice and co-chair of its government industry joint venture practice. He also provided leadership as a former senior vice-president overseeing the infrastructure investment arm of a major Canadian pension fund, and led a practice at Canada’s largest communications consultancy.

Richard is a frequent media commentator on Canadian politics and public policy. He serves on a number of private-sector and charitable boards, and is a member of the national public affairs firm McMillan Vantage Policy Group.
