Brent Thomas is developing a broad practice in all areas of banking law, including commercial debt financing, acquisition financing, asset-based lending, project financing and secured transactions. He has significant experience assisting on construction and infrastructure projects including public-private partnerships (P3).

During law school, Brent was an associate caseworker for community legal services, and completed legal internships with Force India Formula One racing in Silverstone, U.K, and the Dispute Resolution Clinic at Western Law.



Representative Matters

  • Counsel to Bird Construction Inc. as borrower under a $200 million syndicated credit facility with Bank of Montreal as lead arranger, bookrunner and administrative agent, and The Toronto-Dominion Bank, ATB Financial and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce as lenders.
  • Counsel to a bidding consortium in connection with the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT Project in Edmonton.
  • Counsel to the finance parties in connection with the successful closing of the $967.5 million project financing transaction to design, build and finance the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project in British Columbia.
  • Counsel to the finance parties in connection with the successful closing of the $70 million project financing transaction to design, construct, finance and maintain long-term care facilities in Gander and Grand Falls-Windsor in Newfoundland.
  • Counsel to the design-build joint venture in connection with the successful closing of the $4.6 billion project financing transaction to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Hurontario LRT Project in Ontario.
  • Counsel to the finance parties in connection with the successful closing of the $633 million project financing transaction to design, build, finance, maintain and rehabilitate an extension of the existing Trillium Line in Ottawa.
