Christopher Keliher

Christopher Keliher is a seasoned restructuring and insolvency lawyer specializing in corporate insolvency. Working with clients in a range of industries, he focuses on complex reorganizations, receiverships, insolvency litigation, and cross-border cases, and regularly appears before courts in Alberta, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Prior to joining McMillan, Christopher worked with a national turnaround and restructuring strategy group where he worked as a vice president and senior director.  In that role, Christopher worked primarily on corporate engagements and has acted as a financial advisor, a CCAA monitor, a trustee in bankruptcy, and as both a private and court-appointed receiver.

In addition to his legal practice, Christopher is a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) and a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT). Christopher is an active member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals and serves as an instructor in Business Law at Mount Royal University.

  • Counsel to the senior secured lender in the court-appointed receivership proceedings of Genesis Integration Inc. and Fusion Cine Sales & Rentals Inc. (audiovisual equipment sales and rentals).
  • Counsel to the senior secured lender in the cross-border CCAA/Chapter 11 proceedings and sale of Structurlam Mass Timber Corporation et. al (manufacturing).
  • Counsel for the purchaser in connection with the court-appointed receivership proceedings of Kivuto Solutions Inc. (information technology).
  • Counsel for the debtors in the cross-border CCAA/Chapter 11 proceedings and sale of DCL Group (manufacturing).
  • Counsel to the court-appointed information officer in the cross-border recognition proceedings for Voyager Digital (cryptocurrency).
  • Counsel to an undisclosed syndicate of lenders with secured debt in excess of C$50-million (oil and gas services).
  • Acted for North American Lamb Company as its court-appointed monitor (agriculture).
  • Acted for Kaisen Energy Corp. as its court-appointed monitor (oil and gas).
  • Acted for BOS Solutions Ltd., BOS Solutions Inc., BOS LeaseCo LLC, BOS Solutions Real Estate Inc. and BOS USHoldCo Inc. as their court-appointed receiver and foreign representative in cross-border proceedings (receivership/Chapter 15) (oil and gas services and environmental solutions).
  • Acted for Quadriga Fintech Solutions Corp., Whiteside Capital Corporation and 0984750 B.C. Ltd. as their court-appointed monitor and trustee in bankruptcy (cryptocurrency).
