With several years of experience in an international jurisdiction, I hope to leverage my learnings to create a fulsome summer experience at McMillan. I am fortunate to have received this opportunity which will allow me not only to work on challenging files but also avail of the mentorship program to build a successful legal career.
I completed my combined bachelor of legal science and bachelor of laws degree from one of the finest law schools in India. While earning my law degree, I greatly enjoyed participating in moot court competitions on varied subjects and was privileged to have received several national-level awards. Additionally, I volunteered as a coordinator of the placement department for two years. After my graduation, I worked at a renowned Indian law firm for two years focusing on corporate commercial transactions.
Through my subsequent position as a senior associate at one of the most prominent law firms in India, I notably gained experience in the field of capital markets law. During my four years period at this firm, I successfully advised global investment banks and corporates on major equity and debt offerings. A number of these transactions involved novel features and creative pathways through India’s securities regime. Before moving to Canada, I briefly worked at the New York office of a reputed Indian law firm where I balanced my time advising U.S. based clients on the Indian law aspects of cross-border transactions and performing the role of business development for the firm in the U.S. market.
Recently, I obtained my certificate of qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation, Canada. As a student member of the Ontario Bar Association’s Charity and Not for Profit Law Section, I am currently leading an initiative to introduce Charity Law courses across law schools in Ontario. Additionally, since 2019, I have been a member of the leadership team of Icing Smiles, a not-for-profit that provides baked treats to families of critically ill children.
During my free time, I enjoy curating beautifully styled snacking boards for my Instagram page “The PlatterBox” and taking long nature walks. I also enjoy practicing yoga and an ayurvedic nutrition regime.
