Josh Sheppard is excited to return to McMillan as an articling student after a rewarding summer experience with the firm.

Josh recently graduated from the Juris Doctor program at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law. During his second year at law school, Josh co-headed the Trellis Youth Information Project through Pro Bono Students Canada. This Project helped provide youth with legal information regarding various aspects of the legal system. In this role, Josh gained valuable experience in leadership, legal drafting, and various aspects of the law. During his time at law school, Josh was awarded the John M.S. Lecky Family Award in Law, as well as the John A. MacPherson, Q.C. Memorial Scholarship for outstanding ability in advocacy skills.

Throughout law school, Josh also played on the Faculty of Law’s intramural hockey team and was the president of the UCalgary Financial Markets Club.

Prior to law school, Josh obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History from St. Mary’s University in Calgary, graduating with highest honors.

In his spare time, Josh likes to spend his time watching sports, being outside, or spending time with friends doing both. Before his articles, Josh trekked to the Everest Base Camp in May of 2024.
