After finishing his second year of law at the University of Calgary, Josh Sheppard is very excited to be joining McMillan LLP this summer. Josh looks forward to learning from the incredible lawyers at the firm and getting his first practical hands-on experience with the law.
Before starting law school, Josh received a bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Political Science from St. Mary’s University in Calgary. During this time, Josh served consecutive terms as Vice-President Internal on the University’s Student Legislative Council. In this role, Josh advocated for the student body of St. Mary’s University on issues such as tuition increases and the shifting delivery of post-secondary education.
During his first two years of law school, Josh served as the President of the UCalgary Law Financial Markets Club. Josh also volunteered with and led various projects for Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) and Student Legal Assistance (SLA). During 2L, Josh was the Co-Project Lead for PBSC’s Trellis Youth Information Project, aimed at providing relevant and accessible legal information to youth communities in Calgary.
Outside of work, Josh enjoys playing guitar or reading any book he can get his hands on. He can usually be found watching sports, sitting on a patio, or doing both with friends.
