As National Director of Professional Development at McMillan, Marlene’s role is to help our lawyers achieve increasing levels of professional excellence.

Under Marlene’s direction, our training and development programs have been designed to meet lawyers’ needs at every stage of their career – as students, associates, and partners. Our structured curriculum focuses on excellence in legal and business expertise; client service; project, time and people management; and leadership.

Marlene develops and teaches programs for our lawyers and clients, designs training plans for individual lawyers, and works one-on-one with our students and associates as a writing mentor.

Marlene brings to the role her invaluable experience as a former deal lawyer at the firm. She has certificates in adult training and development, and e-Learning and is a member of the Professional Development Consortium, an association of professional development specialists from the US, UK, and Canada.

A transplanted Western Canadian, Marlene is an avid traveler. Her most memorable journeys have taken her to South East Asia, New Zealand, Russia, and India.
