Mathurhaen Siri maintains a broad practice focused on business law and financial services, and advises on McMillan’s national Startups and Emerging Companies mandate, advising clients in a wide range of industries.
His financial services practice focuses on insurance regulation and transactions, including helping insurers, reinsurers and intermediaries establish businesses in Canada, as well as advising on compliance and licensing. Auto and electronics manufacturers, as well as warranty administrators, also rely on his expertise on the borderline between insurance and non-insurance products, and on the implementation of warranty, extended warranty, service contract and other programs sold across Canada.
His startup practice focuses on advising pre-seed and seed-stage companies with respect to incorporation, equity and non-dilutive financing, debt financing, shareholder structure, regulatory compliance and corporate governance matters.
Mathurhaen holds a juris doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, a master of business administration from the Schulich School of Business, and an honours bachelor of science from the University of Toronto. During his legal studies, he served as the co-president of the South Asian Law Students’ Association and as a member of the South Asian Bar Association.
Prior to joining McMillan, Mathurhaen practised securities law at one of Canada’s leading national law firms in Toronto.
