Ryan is thrilled to return to McMillan LLP’s Calgary office as an articling student-at-law. With a keen interest in all facets of business law, he is excited to work within the field and develop strong relationships with members of the firm.
A recent graduate from the University of Manitoba – Robson Hall Faculty of Law, Ryan gained valuable experience as an extern at the Legal Help Centre of Manitoba where he managed family and civil law files. Additionally, Ryan advised business start-ups and not-for-profit organizations with the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic. Throughout his final year of law school, Ryan served as Managing Editor for the Desautels Review of Private Enterprise and Law, an emerging, peer-reviewed journal focusing on the disciplines of law, business, and the humanities as they apply to family-controlled and other private enterprises. Ryan rounded out his experience at Robson Hall by serving as the Vice President of LEVEL Justice (Manitoba Chapter) and as Treasurer for Robson Hall’s Employment and Labour Law Club.
Ryan has a passion for entrepreneurship, and after his first year of law school, he co-founded a landscaping company, which continues to be run by aspiring law students. Through his company, Ryan has learned the key components of how to run a successful business, including how to construct contracts, negotiate, and above all, maintain client satisfaction.
Prior to attending Robson Hall, Ryan completed his Bachelor of Arts (with distinction), majoring in Sociology, at the University of Manitoba. Outside of work, you will find Ryan playing basketball, working out, or cruising around town on his motorcycle.
