Thoma Bravo acquires majority stake in Cority Software Inc.

McMillan acted as Canadian counsel to Thoma Bravo in connection with its majority stake investment in Cority Software Inc. Previous majority investor in Cority, Norwest Venture Partners, has retained a significant stake in the business and re-invested over half of its proceeds as part of the transaction. The transaction will support Cority in its next phase of growth.

Thoma Bravo is a leading private equity firm focused on the software and technology-enabled services sectors. With a series of funds representing more than $30 billion in capital commitments, Thoma Bravo partners with a company’s management team to implement operating best practices, invest in growth initiatives and make accretive acquisitions intended to accelerate revenue and earnings, with the goal of increasing the value of the business.

The transaction involved a cross-border component and McMillan advised on all Canadian aspects of the transaction.
