Tilaye is a member of the firm’s intellectual property group. He drafts and prosecutes patent applications for clients ranging from small startups to multinationals.
Areas covered by Tilaye’s IP practice include software, mechanical inventions, electronic circuits, telecommunications, touch detection technologies, image and data compression, digital signal processing of audio and video, cryptography, blockchains and wood composites.
Prior to joining McMillan, Tilaye worked as an engineer, designing and implementing innovative solutions, some of which became patented. While managing the intellectual property department for a technology firm, he developed an IP strategy and coordinated patent litigation efforts, giving him a unique, firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by many of his clients.
