Yanwen Le joins McMillan’s Vancouver office

McMillan LLP is pleased to announce that Yanwen Le has joined the firm. Yanwen, who is based in our Vancouver office, has joined our Capital Markets Group, focusing on M&A opportunities involving investments in both China and Canada. To date, much of the firm’s focus in China has involved outbound investment from China into Canada. Yanwen’s experience not only includes outbound work but also inbound investments from North America into China in such areas as energy, engineering and construction.

Yanwen has 18 years of active practice experience in cross-border investment and business law, and has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 1994. He was among the first vanguard of mainland Chinese practitioners who became qualified to practice in Quebec and Canada in the 1990s.

Yanwen graduated from Shanghai International Studies University (BA and LL.M program) and Université Laval (LL.B and LL.M) in Québec. He articled and practiced in Montréal with Ogilvy Renault in the early 1990s, and then spent the last decade in Hong Kong and China. Yanwen practiced with prominent UK and US law firms serving a diverse range of North American, European multinationals and Chinese clients in mid-to-large-sized cross-border M&A, joint ventures and commercial transactions. He was the head of corporate practice of Lovell’s Shanghai office, and played a significant role during the start-up of its corporate practice in Shanghai. Most recently Yanwen was a resident partner at Nixon Peabody LLP and counsel at Bryan Cave LLP.
