I am very excited to be joining the McMillan team this summer as a temporary articled student. I am grateful for the opportunity to develop my legal and professional skills and engage in the firm’s supportive and collegial culture.
I have recently completed my second year of the JD program at Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law (TRU). During my first year at TRU, I became a member of the TRU Business Law Society’s (TRU BLS) events committee. In this role, my team and I successfully planned and hosted a record-breaking number of sold-out networking events. In the summer after 1L, I volunteered with UBC’s Law Students’ Legal Advice Program where I served clients in Vancouver to help resolve their legal matters. This past year I held a committee member seat on TRU’s Academic Planning Committee, became an executive member of TRU’s BLS, and had the pleasure of serving as a mentor for the TRU Law Ambassador Program. I recently moved into the role of Co-President of the TRU BLS, a position which I will hold going into my third year.
Prior to law school, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Honours at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV). While at UFV I conducted an honours research project about our justice system moving towards a more trauma-informed approach, and I was awarded the Undergraduate Research Excellence Award. After graduating and before starting law school, I gained exposure to the practice of law and reaffirmed my interest in law through my time working as a legal assistant for Hauer and Company in Kamloops.
In my spare time, I enjoy being active and taking advantage of BC’s surroundings. In the summer you will find me hiking, camping, or playing golf. In the winter, I enjoy snowboarding and snowshoeing. I also love tapping into my creative side through scrapbooking and card making.
