Olivia is developing a practice in financial services and business law. Her practice encompasses a broad range of corporate, commercial, and financing matters, as well as general corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions.
Olivia joined McMillan as an associate following her time as a summer and articling student with the firm. Prior to joining McMillan, Olivia graduated from the Juris Doctor program at Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law (TRU). During her time at TRU, she actively participated in various extracurricular activities, including joining the TRU Business Law Society in her first year and eventually moving into the role of president in her final year. Olivia also served as a committee member on TRU’s Academic Planning Committee, mentored incoming and current law students through TRU Law’s Ambassador Program, and held a position as a work-study student for the TRU Law admissions department. During the summer after 1L, she volunteered with UBC’s Law Students’ Legal Advice Program, assisting clients in both civil and criminal matters.
Prior to law school, Olivia completed her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Honours at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV). While at UFV, Olivia conducted an honours research project focused on the Canadian justice system’s transition towards a more trauma-informed approach. Her dedication and hard work on this project earned her the Undergraduate Research Excellence Award. Olivia also gained exposure to the practice of law through her time working as a legal assistant for a civil litigation law firm in Kamloops.
In her spare time, Olivia enjoys reading and making the most of BC’s beautiful surroundings. You will find her hiking, camping, or playing golf in the summer and snowboarding and snowshoeing in the winter.
