Sterling Hillman is thrilled to return to McMillan as an articling student after a great summer with the firm.
While obtaining his J.D. at the University of Calgary, Sterling has been involved with activities that have allowed me to help foster community. Throughout his second year, he worked as a Student Caseworker at Student Legal Assistance, providing legal information to low-income members of the community. He is proud to be able to assist with winning several cases for his clients.
Sterling also served as an executive of the U of C Law Ambassadors, where he ensured new and prospective law students felt welcomed at the law school. In March 2022, he participated in the Alberta Court of Appeals Moot Competition in the constitutional law division.
Prior to law school, Sterling completed a Bachelor of Environment (with distinction) with a major in Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University. Throughout his degree, he obtained a wide variety of skills working as a student research assistant studying aquaculture in Hong Kong and as an elected student senator.
Outside of school and work, you can usually find him fishing in his canoe, going for bike rides, or hitting the slopes in the winter.
