Univar acquires wholesale fertilizer distributor Nexus Ag

On March 22, 2016, Univar Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Univar Inc. (a NYSE traded company) acquired the assets of Nexus Ag Business Inc., a Saskatchewan wholesale fertilizer distributor, which operates from six regional warehouse locations and is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

This is part of the company’s plan to expand its capabilities within the Canadian agriculture market with logistics, warehousing, packaging, and formulation services. In 2016, Univar acquired Future Transfer and BlueStar Distribution.

Univar Agriculture’s distribution network now includes 16 facilities in four provinces with more than 1.2 million square feet of Agrichemical Warehousing Standards Association (AWSA) warehouse space, the most in Canada.

Univar was represented by a McMillan team led by J.R. Beaudrie and that included Caroline Samara (corporate), Paul Boshyk (employment), Andrew Stirling (tax), Robert Fraser (real estate) and Dagmar Smetana.
