McMillan Wins the First Ontario Law Firm Leadership Award from Women in Law Leadership
TORONTO, March 6, 2024 – McMillan is thrilled to be the first firm to receive the Ontario Law Firm Leadership Award from Women in Law Leadership (WILL) aimed at acknowledging a law firm’s inclusion of women lawyers as practitioners.
This award recognizes McMillan’s success in enacting programs and initiatives in support of women’s lawyers at every step of their career as well as promoting women’s leadership in the legal and business communities. Lindsay Lorimer, McMillan’s partner liaison on gender parity matters, says, “the firm’s commitment to gender parity is pivotal to our success. Embracing gender equity is not just a commitment to diversity. It’s an investment in a more robust, innovative, and equitable future for our firm and the legal profession as a whole.”
Tim Murphy, McMillan’s CEO, also weighed in on the firm’s most recent award. “Promoting women leadership in law is central to our strategic plan and critical to evolving our business with the clients we serve. We know that clients’ needs are complex and require more than just legal solutions, and gender equity is essential for us to deliver exceptional client service which business leaders depend on to stay ahead” he said.
Indeed, the firm’s Gender Parity Initiative has brought to life progressive policies and resources to foster leadership and business development opportunities. McMillan is proud of our leading women lawyers and is confident that, thanks to their efforts, there is room for more. And thank you to WILL for this important recognition and to our referees who endorsed us during this process as we strive each day to ensure McMillan stays a great place to work.
