McMillan’s Lindsay Lorimer Appointed Vice Chair of the Defense Research Institute’s Product Liability Committee
Lindsay Lorimer, a partner in McMillan’s Advocacy and Litigation Group, will play a vital role as Vice Chair of the Product Liability Committee for 2023-2024. This is one of the largest and most active committees within the Defense Research Institute (DRI), with 3,200 members and 18 specialized litigation groups.
The DRI is the largest international membership organization of attorneys defending the interests of businesses and individuals in civil matters. The continued growth and future success of the organization is dependent in large part on the vision, energy and focus of individuals like Lindsay who promulgate DRI’s core values: education, justice, balance, economics, professionalism and diversity.
Lindsay has served in many positions within the DRI and the Product Liability Committee, including as Program Chair for the Product Liability Conference in 2021. She has been a part of the Product Liability Steering Committee since 2010, fulfilling several roles including Chair of the Children’s’ Products Committee and SLG Chair.
Winner of Lexology’s 2022 Client Choice Award for Product Liability Defence in Canada, Lindsay has extensive experience defending class actions and both individual and commercial product liability lawsuits. Her expertise ranges across a broad range of products such as fire and security products, consumer products, food products, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, recreational products, construction and industrial machinery, motor vehicles, building materials and juvenile products.
Lindsay assists several global companies with national coordination and management of their litigation matters. Leading manufacturers and distributors routinely retain Lindsay to provide proactive risk management advice and litigation avoidance strategies. She advises on product launches and market entry due diligence, regulatory challenges and enforcement, regulatory compliance and product recalls. Lindsay is a member of Canadian Association of Professionals in Regulatory Affairs (CAPRA), the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO), and the DRI.
Her appointment is effective at the 2023 DRI Annual Meeting taking place in San Antonio, Texas from October 25th to 27th, where she will be in attendance.
